    Major Forestry Related Activities

    AUPWAE is implementing project entitled Climate Change Sensitization to Rural Communities of Iganga and Jinja Districts of Uganda funded by AFRICA- ADAPT under the Knowledge Sharing Innovation Fund. In Jinja, the sensitization was done in the two target sub-counties are Busede and Buyengo and Bulamagi and Nakigo sub-counties in Iganga. The goal of the project was to contribute to the improvement of livelihoods of rural households in Jinja and Iganga Districts. The project objective was to create awareness about the impacts of climatic changes and adaptation measures among 4 farming communities and 16 schools in Jinja and Iganga Districts by June 2010. The project was targeting a total of 29,040 community members, which included 8000 school children. Sensitization has been done in partnership with local women groups who have been using music, dance and drama to sensitize the communities. Total amount of funds used in the 6months period is $7810.
